How to monitor interface bps throughput in Juniper SRX branch firewall

To find the index number of the desired interface, first check the interface index table via SNMP (IF-MIB MIB file). This can be done with following command:
Code:
# snmpwalk -v2c -c public 10.11.1.2 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.502 = STRING: ae0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.503 = STRING: ae0.0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.504 = STRING: ae1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.532 = STRING: ge-0/0/0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.533 = STRING: ge-0/0/1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.534 = STRING: fe-0/0/2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.535 = STRING: ge-0/0/0.0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.536 = STRING: fe-0/0/3
IF-MIB::ifDescr.537 = STRING: fe-0/0/4
IF-MIB::ifDescr.538 = STRING: fe-0/0/5
IF-MIB::ifDescr.539 = STRING: ge-0/0/1.0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.540 = STRING: fe-0/0/6
IF-MIB::ifDescr.541 = STRING: fe-0/0/7
IF-MIB::ifDescr.542 = STRING: fe-0/0/2.0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.548 = STRING: ae1.32767
IF-MIB::ifDescr.566 = STRING: ae1.8
IF-MIB::ifDescr.567 = STRING: ae1.5
IF-MIB::ifDescr.568 = STRING: ae1.2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.569 = STRING: fe-0/0/6.32767
IF-MIB::ifDescr.570 = STRING: fe-0/0/6.8
IF-MIB::ifDescr.571 = STRING: fe-0/0/6.5
IF-MIB::ifDescr.572 = STRING: fe-0/0/6.2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.573 = STRING: fe-0/0/7.32767
IF-MIB::ifDescr.574 = STRING: fe-0/0/7.8
IF-MIB::ifDescr.575 = STRING: fe-0/0/7.5
IF-MIB::ifDescr.576 = STRING: fe-0/0/7.2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.577 = STRING: fe-0/0/5.0

Above output can be retrieved also using the junos "snmp" operational command:
Code:
> show snmp mib walk decimal 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2"
ifDescr.502   = ae0
ifDescr.503   = ae0.0
ifDescr.504   = ae1
ifDescr.532   = ge-0/0/0
ifDescr.533   = ge-0/0/1
ifDescr.534   = fe-0/0/2
ifDescr.535   = ge-0/0/0.0
ifDescr.536   = fe-0/0/3
ifDescr.537   = fe-0/0/4
ifDescr.538   = fe-0/0/5
ifDescr.539   = ge-0/0/1.0
ifDescr.540   = fe-0/0/6
ifDescr.541   = fe-0/0/7
ifDescr.542   = fe-0/0/2.0
ifDescr.548   = ae1.32767
ifDescr.566   = ae1.8
ifDescr.567   = ae1.5
ifDescr.568   = ae1.2
ifDescr.569   = fe-0/0/6.32767
ifDescr.570   = fe-0/0/6.8
ifDescr.571   = fe-0/0/6.5
ifDescr.572   = fe-0/0/6.2
ifDescr.573   = fe-0/0/7.32767
ifDescr.574   = fe-0/0/7.8
ifDescr.575   = fe-0/0/7.5
ifDescr.576   = fe-0/0/7.2
ifDescr.577   = fe-0/0/5.0

So looking at the above output, we will use interface ae1.5 - index 567 and use the JUNIPER-IF-MIB MIB file to get the IN/OUT bps rates, the " ifIn1SecRate 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.3.1.1.1" and "ifOut1SecRate 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.3.1.1.4" object names:

Code:
# snmpget -v2c -c public 172.16.2.2 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.3.1.1.1.567 ;snmpget -v2c -c public 172.16.2.2 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.3.1.1.4.567
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2636.3.3.1.1.1.567 = Gauge32: 1746320
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2636.3.3.1.1.4.567 = Gauge32: 1045520
